To Be Surrounded with Beauty

I want to surround myself with beauty.

To dive into a picture and live in that house.  The one with the perfectly placed furniture, art on the walls, the impossibly clean kitchen...I want to bury myself in those couch pillows and drink hot cider while watching the rain pelt the window.

I want to surround myself with beauty.

To feel so close to Heaven that I could just reach out my hand and touch it.  To feel once again so close to God and be reminded this is all part of His plan.

I want to be better, to do better.

Today I surround myself with imperfections.  My imperfect, beautiful life.  The holes in the walls waiting to be patched, the LEGO's scattered to and fro, the papers love notes that have been drawn and written by my children littering every surface available.

The dirty floors, dirty dishes, laundry waiting to be folded, yelling children, yelling Mama.  Happy squeals, makeshift tree swings, sweaty stinky children playing.

I want to surround myself with beauty. And I do.

Sometimes I want to dive into the beauty of a clean, perfect house. Just for an afternoon. Just for a few moments where I don't trip over trucks and lego pieces and dirty clothes, but not forever.

Amen.

I love this. Also, your house sounds exactly like mine, if you replaced legos with squinkies & littlest pet shop. :)

It always takes me a while to notice that what's right in front of me really is beautiful... thanks for the reminder :)

Yes. Pristine houses have one of two things in them: 1) an absence of children, or 2) an exhausted mommy who's trying way too hard.

I cannot believe how much the oldest little man has grown! Ack! I'm with Brandee who commented above me.....I embrace my insanity and messy house ;)

I want a house in which I can feel at peace and ease. A house in which my husband doesn't ask me what I did all day long because clearly I didn't spend it cleaning or organizing.

but you are right, our lives are beautifully imperfect. I need to embrace this becasue soon enough the girls will have flown the nest and I will be able to get things just so....you know because I will finally be able to afford that cleaning lady.

How did baby boy get so big?! I thought I whispered in his ear not to grow up when I was there... ;)

And that room looks divine but right now I like our other version of beauty better.

I think. ;)

How lucky those little people are that their mom has her priorities straight! They will NEVER remember the condition of the house but WILL remember the condition of the mom...loveyou!!

It was really mom who said that-don't know why dad's identity came up---haha!

ME TOO. YES. Exactly. I want to go sit in that beautiful room with YOU :) I want to surround myself with beauty and then just like you, I see that it's ALL beautiful.

Thank you. xoxo

Lovely.

We are all sorts of imperfect, aren't we? Finding the love in that is the rub.

I adore the pictures, too! :)
