It's Not All Gloom and Doom

I promise. My days are not filled with weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth, I swear. There are lots of things that have been making me happy recently.

Don't believe me?? Well, check this out...

First, I love Wendy's. Their food is ok, but when we were on our trip home, they had Magic Treehouse Books on C.D. in the kids meals. We got two and my kids LOVE THEM!!! Oh my goodness. We are definitely going to be getting more of these books, either in print or on cd, they are both great!

Second, if you need something to keep your kids occupied for hours on end...get them a chalkboard and chalk. Boy howdy, this has been a life saver, my kids LOVE them!!!

Third, remember I said we went to Lava Hot Springs this last weekend? Well, it was fun. It rained and was cold on Saturday, so we didn't get to spend the day at the pool like we'd hoped. However, we watched movies, went to the pool for the one hour of sunshine the day afforded, and even won an Operation Game (I'm surprised how much kids love this game!).

And, when all else fails to cheer me, I look at this great bowl I got at the thrift store for $2, overflowing with goodness from my garden and I remember how very blessed I am.

P.S. I have arranged for my friend, Joe, to do a guest post here. He is the therapist I met with the other day. He gave me some GREAT advice and strategies and I can already see them working. So, get ready!!

P.P.S. Thank you all for your warm thoughts and comments. It is so good to know I am not alone in this. It helped more than you know.

P.P.P.S. You are my favorites in the whole world. Well next to my husband and kids and family, you know.

When I taught each read we started at the beginning of the Magic Tree House series and we would see how far we could get by the end of the year with our read alouds. Seriously the kids LOVED them.

Magic Tree House books are wonderful. We homeschool our seven children, and a lot of them have enjoyed them. In fact, one of them is reading one right now at the breakfast table!

My kids love the Magic Tree House books!! I'm sad I missed those on CD. Those are perfect for car rides.

And I am totally jealous of your garden bounty.

One week til we meet!

And now a message from AJ:

Hi Kim, sorry it has taken me so long to reply to all of your latest blogs...I was not confident in with my brain power on pain meds. Anyway, I am sorry you are having a sad month...I can totally understand why. I did not know that you suffer from depression...that must be hard. I know there is not much I can say that can help, but know that I am a 5 minute drive away and you are always welcome here!
As for your little man...I KNOW...that is all I can say. My sweet sweet calm easy little Finnegan is now a fisty four year old boy...and unlike you I only grew up with my sister, so I do not understand all this fight game stuff and sassy boy stuff. All I hope for is that we don't look back in their teenage years and say, "what in the world were we complaining about when they were 4/5 years old...that was nothing compared to this".
miss you kim and home you are having a better day today.

We love the magic treehouse books! I was also pleasantly surprised when we got kids meals at Wendy's (we don't usually do kids meals, so this was a treat)
