Sometimes It's Not Easy
In honor of World Breastfeeding Week...
Sometimes it's not easy
to let you use me like you do
It feels so natural
yet so strange at the same time.
Sometimes it's not easy
being your pacifier
and sleep inducer
and comfort
and food
and everything you need all the time.
Sometimes it's not easy
to be on duty day and night
to not get a break
to work all the time.
Sometimes it's not easy
but it is always worth it
I wouldn't trade it
for anything.

I can only imagine, I was never able to breast feed because I had to directly back on lithium, although it saddened me, I was thankful that my hubs could wake up and feed the babes in the middle if the night.
Beautiful... and so true.
Nope, it's not easy but totally worth it. Great post!
I miss breastfeeding, I really do, but I had a wonderfully easy, natural time with it.
VERY well said. Some times it's so natural but so weird at the same time!
Steph
You said it perfectly... I breastfeed for a year with each kid, and Leah and I are only on 2 1/2 months and I'm feeling a little tied down lately. I know it is all worth it though and I wouldn't give it up for anything!
So, so true.
oh, so true....love this!
Your poem really captures the unconditional love that mothers give their children. As their children's source of nourishment, strength, and life, mothers really do everything. Such amazing women, cheers to all the moms out there! :)
