I'm in for it.

I asked Seth to go and get something for me and he replied, "Stop trying to ruin my life!"

I am in for it. If he thinks I'm trying to ruin his life at 5, just wait until he's 15!

Oh that boy. Good thing he's funny!

In other news....I am having so much fun making repurposed dresses for people on my Etsy shop! If you want one, go on over and let me know!!!

Oh and one more thing...no sugar for me until I go to Kansas on July 16. I am telling you so you all will keep me accountable. Help me ok? Thanks!

So Grateful

I just got done watching He's Just Not That Into You with my dearest. Can I just say how glad I am that I am not in the dating world anymore?

Wow.

Seriously.

They were spot on with so many things. The way we as women console each other, and perpetuate the cycle of finding men who don't appreciate us and don't realize that we rock. We also convince each other that each of us are the most amazing and special people in the world.

I am just so glad that I found someone who thinks that I am the most amazing and special person in the world. Someone who loves me despite my craziness and although he knows I will now have dreams about him cheating on me and will be mad at him for it tomorrow....he still loves me.

Man I am lucky.

Lazy Days

We've had some nice lazy days this week. In preparation for our long drive to Kansas in a few weeks, I got some books on CD for the car ride. When I saw Nate the Great, I was so excited. I LOVED Nate the Great when I was a kid.

Seth is in LOVE with Nate the Great also now. It gives me some nice quiet time. He will sit and listen to the same 2 CD's over and over and over. It's really nice when Libby is sleeping and Amelia wants quiet time. I only wish I'd figured this out earlier.

Wow.

Is it already Thursday?!?! Summertime + my kids = not much time for anything fun like blogging!

Amelia had a fantastic Princess birthday. She began the festivities by sleeping in (until 7:45!) and then opening presents.

She was pretty stinking excited about that sleeping bag from her brother. But, that excitement was NOTHING in comparison to the dress my Mother-in-Law made for her.

Yep, a real live princess dress. She wore it all day on her birthday and most of the day yesterday. The girl LOVES it!

After a breakfast of Mama made scones, then swimming lessons, then a mozzarella sandwich, she was ready to PLAY. She and I were Princesses and Seth was our brave Knight. It was awesome. Then again, so is she.

The Bike Amelia is riding in the top picture? The best thing we have ever bought. Seriously, this thing rocks!!! It is called a Boot Scoot and has no pedals. It teaches kids balance and I will tell you what, it is the only way to go! I wish we had found it before we got Seth hooked on training wheels. If you are going to be getting a bike for your little ones, check out Boot Scoot Bikes!

Three

Three years ago at 12:06 am, my darling daughter came into this world. She and I worked so hard together and she came so very peacefully. When I was pregnant with her, I knew that it was going to be another girl. I was so very scared to have another girl, so scared that she would look like her big sister.

She is such an amazing little person. I am so lucky to be her Mom.

My darling Amelia,

Happy Birthday baby girl. You are getting so big. You are in between baby and little girl. You so desperately want to be a 'big gril', yet are still my baby. You only stopped nursing 9 months ago, yet you insist that nursies are for babies. You ride your bike like a mad woman and love swimming lessons. You are becoming so independent, but still want your Mama.

You sing and dance, something you've done all of your life. I love the songs you make up. You also make up names for everyone. You know what you want and when you want it. No one can change your mind, you have to do it on your own.

Your best friend is your brother. You love to play Princess Leia or Ahsoka or Padmae. You also love to play school and can't wait to start preschool in the fall. You love your baby sister and give her lots of hugs and snuggles.

You melt my heart daily and have your Daddy wrapped around your little finger. I am so very blessed to have you in my life.

I love you baby, forever and ever and ever.

Love,
Mama

I Can't Stop Myself!!!

I am addicted to making shirts and dresses from old t-shirts now!!! These aren't the best pictures, but I just couldn't wait until the rain stopped (if it ever does) to take good ones. I made this for Amelia today.

I got this shirt for myself for $3.00 at Walmart. I never liked how it fit me, so I recycled it into Amelia's favorite new shirt.

Father's Day

Daddy and Emma

Seven years ago we celebrated your first Father's Day. I gave you snickers and a picture. I was just sure you would be the best Father ever. You talked to the baby growing in my belly, kissed my belly, got me A&W Rootbeer Floats at midnight, and took such good care of me.

Daddy and Amelia

In the last 7 years I have watched you grow as a Father and a Man. I've watched as you changed the first diaper, wiped the first spit up, stayed up with a crying baby, held me as I cried, labored, birthed, fed our children.

I have watched you as your eyes lit up at the first smile from our babes, the way you get excited when they say "Dada" first, the pure joy you get from playing with them.

Changing Seth's Diaper

I have held you as you cried and grieved over the loss of our oldest.

Daddy and Emma

I love watching how our little girls have you wrapped around their fingers.

Daddy and Amelia

I love watching how you and Seth are "the boys" and stick together as boys do.

The Boys

I love that I can call you at any time and vent. You are always a Dad, 100% of the time, even at night (thank you for that!).

Daddy and Liberty

You are an amazing Father. Our children are so lucky to have you. I am so lucky to be married to you and to be able to create these little people with you.

I love you so much. Happy Father's Day, babe.

Girls Camp 2009

From Tuesday morning until Friday morning I had the distinct privelege of taking the girls in my church to camp. Along with 2 other leaders, we had 15 girls ages 12-18, and Libby.

We went to a campground about an hour away. That was great. It was beautiful on the way up. When we got there, we realized that it was more like a swamp than anything else. There was so.much.mud. Oh my goodness.

We had a great first night. Plenty of drama, as happens with that many girls, hurt feelings, snake finding, running away, etc.

The next day it rained and rained and rained. We had tents with water in them, girls who left things out and they got soaked, and we leaders were getting a bit cranky.

That night it poured again, all night long. On Thursday it rained and hailed and rained some more. Three tents with significant amounts of water in them and one with a broken zipper. We decided to call it. We were done.

Dinner was had, activities were done and I got sick. Yes, I got sick. Throwing up with a baby on my lap sitting in a small bathroom stall. At that point, I grabbed 5 girls (how many had to come with me to get them down the mountain) and went home. I was home by 8:30, in the shower by 9 and feeling much better by 10. I think it was food poisoning.

Next year....I just might stay home.

*stepping on soapbox*

I am just so amazed at people and their lack of courtesy. My brother ans sister-in-law have 8 children. Their children range in ages 15 to 1 (next week) and they are EXTREMELY well behaved, just awesome kids. Well, my sil is from Oklahoma and doesn't get back out there very often to see her family. So, she and the 8 kids flew to Oklahoma on Tuesday. They left SLC and arrived at Las Vegas just in time to walk onto their next flight. They were flying Southwest, so they didn't have any assigned seats. Well, they get there, and there are NO seats together. So, the kids all had to sit separately. Well, no I take that back, there were 2 seats together where my nieces (13 and almost 3 sat together). So, my nephew, who is 6, understandably didn't want to sit alone. So, the stewardess is asking people if they would switch seats so that they could sit together, no one would do it. She got on the PA and asked a couple times, no one would do it. Finally, she offered a free alcoholic beverage if someone would let this mother and child sit together, they got an offer.

What does that say about our society? Where we won't move on an airplane to let a Mother and a scared child sit together?? He was crying, clinging to her leg, yet no one would move. Not until they were going to be compensated.

When did we stop getting up off of bus seats to let Mother's sit? When did we start driving by someone whose car isn't working, assuming someone else would stop? When did our society become so self-absorbed that we can't see when other's need help?? I am just really saddened and sickened by this. So, let's all of us who read this blog, start helping others. Doing the random acts of kindness and trying to make our world a better place to live. Let's start being nice to one another. Not because we're going to get something from it, but because it's the right thing to do.

*stepping off soapbox*

Speaking of being sickened...we had a milestone this weekend with my darling daughter. A has had a really bad diaper rash, so on Sunday, I let her have some naked time. J and I were in the kitchen making breakfast and I went to go check on her. I look at her under the high chair and she is covered, from head to toe in poop. She's pooped, played in it and is now starting to eat it! Oh.My.Gosh. I thought I was going to throw up. I scooped her up and took her to the bathroom. I eventually got her cleaned up. There are no pictures of this...for obvious reasons. I couldn't stand having her put one more piece of feces in her mouth just to get a picture! YUCK!

This weekend my in-laws were in town. They flew in on Saturday and left today to go to Provo to visit J's brother and his wife. They fly home tomorrow.

We had such a great time with them. We ate lots of good food, had many laughs, a few debates (all friendly of course) and generally had a fantastic visit. J and his Dad built some fences for my tomatoes to grow up, bought some herbs for our herb garden, and went golfing. Mil and I went fabric shopping, I got a lesson on how to do gathers and zippers, and we played with the kiddos! Oh, we can't forget that 2 children are having birthday's this month. So, they got to go birthday shopping. Here are some pictures of them and their birthday gifts. They were both hits!

This is my little girl singing and dancing while playing the piano. I think she has a future as an entertainer!

A boy and his barn. As I type this, he is playing with some dark blue (per his request) play-dough that we made. He is putting his farm animals in it like water and seeing all their different footprints. He is a nut.

And, one last picture to leave you with. Grandma and Grandpa. We miss you!

What a Sweet Boy

My sweet boy, he really does amaze me. Yesterday he was playing Legos. I just sat there and watched him. It is amazing to see him putting things together and building. He has quite the mind and imagination that boy.

Yesterday he was playing getting ready for bed. He told met hat he needed to go potty, so we took his diaper off and he went! I asked if he wanted to wear underwear and he said that he did. I really wasn't very hopeful, expecting an accident shortly after I put the undies on him. Well, he wore them until bed with NO ACCIDENTS!!! He actually told us when he had to go! I am still amazed. So, this morning he wakes up and he's DRY! Oh my gosh! So, I put him in his Ramone (CARS) underwear and he has not had any accidents today. He's told me every time he had to pee and even pooped on the toilet! I am amazed! It's like the light bulb just clicked on! WAHOO!

This boy loves his sister like nothing else. Recently they've been playing "cats". We are all cats in our house, Seth-cat, Amelia-cat, Mommy-cat, and Daddy-cat. Now that Amelia crawls, Seth will have her follow him (or he follows her) and they are cats. It cracks me up. I love watching them together, I love it more than anything.

We've had some downright mild weather recently, so we've been outside playing. Seth was playing on the electrical box and I told him that it probably wasn't a good idea. He asked me why and I showed him the picture of the man with lightning coming at him out of the box. I told him that he could get hurt really bad if I let him play on it. So, he stopped playing on it, but insisted on studying the picture. Wow, he is SO his Father's son.

I do, I love this boy...to the Moon and back.

The Dark Side Defeated

June 13, 2009.

Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia are encountering much resistance from the Dark side. After doing all they can to take down Darth Vader and the Death Star, they enlist the help of their friends, both Jedi Masters and young Padawans.

When the Masters and Padawans arrived, they each donned their Jedi Cloaks and lightsabers. Knowing that the battle would be great, they had practice battles. Jedi Masters showed the young Padawans how it was done, and they each took turns.

They then helped other Jedi, who did not have their lightsabers, find them.

After stopping at the Mos Eisley Cantina for Galactic Dogs, Jawa Chips and Yoda Soda, they each felt prepared to battle the Dark Side. (too busy eating to take any pictures, sorry!)

Darth Vadar was waiting for them with the Death Star. With the help of his friends, Luke defeated Darth Vadar. The Death Star was successfully destroyed with the help of all the Jedi

.

Much celebration took place with lightsaber cupcakes, ice cream and candy. The Dark Side was defeated and a good time was had by all!
